How should I care for and maintain my candles?Trim the Wick: Before each use, trim the wick of your candle to about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) to prevent excessive smoking and ensure a clean burn. Long or uneven wicks can cause the candle to burn improperly and produce soot. Avoid Tunneling: To prevent tunneling (when the candle burns straight down the center, leaving wax along the sides), allow your candle to burn for at least one hour during each use, or until the wax pool reaches the edges of the container. This helps create an even burn and prevents wasted wax. Keep the Wax Pool Clean: Remove any debris or wick trimmings from the wax pool before lighting your candle to prevent them from catching fire and causing uneven burning. Burn in a Draft-Free Area: Avoid placing your candle in drafty areas or near open windows, fans, or vents, as drafts can cause uneven burning and may lead to smoking or flickering.
